On October 7, the Alliance for Cuba Engagement and Respect (ACERE) organized the webinar “Legal and Policy Reforms in Cuba: Gender and LGBTQI Protections, the Rights of the Accused and Racial Equity”.
The event was moderated by James Counts Early, Consultant on Cultural Heritage Policies, and counted with the participation of Cuban specialists:Martha Prieto Valdes, Constitutional Law Professor and Scholar at the University of Havana’s Law School; Yamila Gonzalez Ferrer, Vice-President of the Union Nacional de Juristas de Cuba and Member of UN CEDAW Committee; and Maritza Lopez McBean (Panelist), Community Activist and Popular Educator, founder of Havana’s Afro-descendant Neighborhood Network Against Racism and Racial Discrimination, and principal specialist of the Community Integral Transformation Workshop in the Balcon Arimao Popular Council in La Lisa, Havana.
