Through various professional contacts with Cuban academic and cultural institutions, professor Rosana Herrero, from the Faculty of Humanities, UWI Cave Hill Campus, made an interesting working tour to Cuba between January 8 to 17, 2018, which it gives relevance to the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed by the rectors of Cave Hill Campus and the University of Havana last November 2017, during the opening session of the II Colloquium on the Legacy of Fidel Castro, in which she presented an exposition comprised by pieces of the Cuban painter Victor Mora.(Read more). First of all, resulting the coordination carried out with the Faculty of Spanish for Non-Spanish Speakers (FENHI) of the University of Havana, a Working Group was set up for the preparation of didactic materials in that language for the Caribbean region. On her way through the Casa de las Américas, the Professor handed out her book of children's literature, whose translation and publishing is now under evaluation. In another vein, she interviewed the playwright Eugenio Hernández Espinosa, from the Caribbean Theater of Cuba. In addition, it was agreed to carry out the English translation of the play María Antonia. Together with the Cuban painter Víctor Mora, she visited the neighborhood of Lawton in Havana, the community artistic project "Muraleando" of which he is a part of. The assembly of an exhibition entitled Tarot Orisha was evaluated by them, to be presented in the next annual congress of the Association of Caribbean Studies, to be held in June in Havana. In this expo texts written by the teacher with illustrations of the painter and with dance manifestations and oral narration will be interspersed.
