The Ambassador of Cuba in Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, led the participation of the Cuban mission at the opening ceremony of the book of condolences organized by the Embassy of Venezuela, following the earthquake that caused numerous casualties in that country. Her presence reaffirmed the bonds of solidarity and brotherhood between both nations.
Members of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Grenada also accompanied the diplomatic representation in signing the book, a gesture symbolizing Cuba’s commitment to the Venezuelan people in times of grief and adversity.
The Ambassador of Venezuela in Grenada, Jorge Guerrero, explicitly acknowledged Ambassador Yadirys Echenique Paz and Mabel León, head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Grenada, for the support provided. His words highlighted the importance of cooperation and solidarity within the regional sphere.
Cuban residents in Grenada, represented by Alán Jareño Amil, also took part, reaffirming that solidarity with Venezuela extends beyond institutional frameworks and is expressed by the Cuban community abroad.
The ceremony was further dignified by the presence of Grenada’s Governor General, Cecile La Grenade, and Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, who joined the opening of the book of condolences at the Venezuelan diplomatic headquarters. Their participation underscored the institutional significance of the event and the message of unity and support for the Venezuelan people.
From the very first moment, Cuba has deployed doctors and rescuers to Venezuela in response to the June 2026 earthquakes, reaffirming its commitment to assist the affected nation. In this regard, President Miguel Díaz-Canel and other Cuban authorities have publicly expressed their solidarity with the victims.
