With the presence of all members of the Cuban State Mission in Barbados, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rogelio Sierra, and the director of the Caribbean and Central America in the Cuban chancellery, Jorge Luis Mayo, paid tribute to the victims of state terrorism by laying a wreath - together with the members of the Cuban sports mission - at the monument erected on Payne Bay beach to the 73 civilians who perished for the terrorist sabotage against the Cubana de Aviación airplane in October 1976, a barbarism that united Cuba's destinies even further and the sister Caribbean nations, Barbados in particular. By highlighting the significance of the symbolic act, the Cuban ambassador Francisco Fernández, recalled the atrocious crime that caused so much pain to our people and in particular to their families, that it will be unforgettable not only for the irreparable human losses, but for the perfidy and the immoral double standard policy of Yankee imperialism, which has served more than 40 years of impunity, never brought to justice its intellectual and material authors, whose two main culprits have died of natural causes after living peacefully during decades in US territory.
