Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Rogelio Sierra Díaz, concluded a visit to Guyana.

Georgetown, June 14th, 2018.- During his stay in Guyana, Vice Minister Sierra Diaz developed an extensive program that included courtesy calls to President David Granger, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and Minister of State and Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs, Joseph Harmon, and the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Audrey Waddell.  The leaders agreed to recognize the value of the historic relations between Guyana and Cuba that date back to 1972, when this one and three other Caribbean counties decided bravely to break the diplomatic siege imposed by the United States to the Cuban island.

Likewise, the Acting Secretary General of the Caribbean Community, Douglas Slater, received the Cuban Vice Minister at the headquarters of the regional organization. The meeting was propitious to reaffirm the will of the Cuban Government to maintain the cooperation in the Caribbean Region and strengthen the excellent bonds of friendship and understanding that unite the largest of the Antilles and the Caribbean. In addition, the Vice Minister visited the Regional Centre for Development Stimulation in Children, Adolescents and Young People with Special Educational Needs Associated with Disabilities, a regional project promoted by the leaders of the Community and Cuba, where he noted the important advances in its implementation.
