Vice President bids farewell to Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe
Cuban Ambassador Elio Savón Oliva was received this morning by the Vice-President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa. During the meeting the Cuban diplomat spoke about the good state of the relations and the positive of his stay in Zimbabwe. The vice president continued the conversation naming several of the programs that were implemented in the last 4 years. He also spoke about how important the Cuban country has been for Cuban aid in sectors such as health and education since its independence.
This meeting also included the trip of the delegation led by Health Minister David Parirenyatwa to Cuba which includes among its objectives the negotiations for the recruitment of the 13th Cuban Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe. This visit has been delayed several times, the last by the passage of Hurricane Irma by the Caribbean. In addition, reference was made to the Visa Exemption Agreement that was pending signature last year, in which work is still ongoing.
The Cuban ambassador must be leaving for Cuba on October 9 after 4 years as head of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Zimbabwe, to join other functions in the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
