The Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba visited Pakistan

The vice president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, visited Pakistan on October 29 and 30, 2019 on an official visit, during which he held meetings with the main authorities of that country.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 29, Morales Ojeda visited the National Institute of Health where he met with the board of said Institute. There, aspects related to cooperation in the health sector were addressed. He also visited the Pakistan Monument, an emblematic architectural work inaugurated in 2007, which represents the territorial division of the country. In the evening, he participated in a cocktail organized at the Cuban Embassy in Islamabad attended by the Minister of Human Rights and Coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship in the National Assembly, several parliamentarians, senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the groups of solidarity, among which was a representation of Pakistani doctors graduated in Cuba.

On Wednesday, October 30, Morales Ojeda held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, to then participate in the signing of the Agreement on the abolition of visas for diplomatic, official and service passports between the two parties that, without doubts, will contribute to a stronger strengthening of bilateral relations. On the Cuban side, the Agreement was signed by the Cuban ambassador to Islamabad, Gabriel Tiel Capote, and on the Pakistani side the federal secretary of the Interior, Major ® Azam Suleman Khan.

On the same day, the Cuban high leader was received by the president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, in a friendly meeting in which they exchanged on the relations between the two countries and bilateral and international issues of common interest.

Subsequently, Morales Ojeda had a working lunch with the Minister of Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood, in which he discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in this important sector.

On the afternoon of the same day, the vice president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba was received by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, with whom he had a friendly and friendly meeting and issues of the bilateral and multilateral agenda were addressed.

Likewise, Morales Ojeda held a meeting with Dr. Zafar Mirza, Minister of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination. During the interview, topics related to cooperation in the health sector and how to implement it were discussed.

Subsequently, the official Cuban delegation visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Islamabad, where the vice president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba exchanged with the new directive of the Chamber and particularly with businessmen representing the biopharmaceutical sector of Pakistan. Morales Ojeda gave an overview of Cuba's achievements in public health, particularly in the biotechnology sector and discussed the possibility of exchanging Cuban and Pakistani biopharmaceuticals.

Cuba and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on October 28, 1955.

On the morning of Thursday, October 31, 2019, the Vice President of the Council of Ministers of Cuba concluded his official visit to Pakistan with excellent results, which shows the willingness of both parties to strengthen and expand bilateral relations.
