Vice President of Cuba holds meeting with former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings

As part of the work agenda developed in Ghana, the Vice President of the Council of State, Mercedes López Acea was received by the former President of the country, Jerry John Rawlings.

Both personalities, in a pleasant atmosphere, recounted elements of the history of bilateral relations between both countries; the figure of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution was highlighted.

The former Ghanaian president recalled the disinterested contributions made by Cuba to the African continent, including the contribution to the professional preparation of thousands of young Africans, including Ghanaians. For her part, the Cuban leader explained that the country was immersed in the implementation of the Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, as well as the development of the electoral process that will entail the election of a new President of the Council of State in the country.

The meeting was propitious for the Cuban Vice President to convey the greetings sent by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Raúl Castro Ruz.

The meeting was also attended by the Ghanaian side, the wife of the former President, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyemang, the daughter of both, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, member of the current parliament of the country, the Ambassador of Ghana in Cuba, Mr. Napoleon Abdulai and the acting Director of the Americas Bureau of the Ghanaian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Aikins Abroakwa. On the Cuban side, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ana Teresita González Fraga, the Ambassador to the country, Pedro L. Despaigne González and Ambassador Sidenio Acosta Aday, from the Sub-Saharan Africa Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
