Vientiane September 11, 2023. Comrade Bounthong Chitmani, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Democratic Party, the Deputy President of the Lao PDR, welcomed the visit of Ana Maria Mari Machado, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Vice President of the People's Power National Assembly and of the State Council with her delegation on the occasion of her working visit in the Lao PDR, between September 10-13, 2023.
On this occasion, Comrade Bounthong Chitmani expressed his welcome to Comrade Mari Machado and the delegation and also the high appreciation for the visit to Laos by his comrades and the team, which is an important contribution to enhancing friendship and relations, the long-standing good cooperation between the two parties, the two states and the people of the Lao-Cuba countries, existing for a long time, that should be strengthened even more.
The Cuban leader expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome given by Bounthong Chitmany and reported on the bilateral meeting led previously by Comrade Sounthone Xayachack of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the National Assembly.
The Lao local Media underlined that Lao PDR and the Republic of Cuba are strategic friends, and have long-standing relations and cooperation based on socialist ideals. The two countries have established diplomatic relations since November 4, 1974. Laos elevated the representative office of the Lao Patriotic Front in Havana to an embassy in 1965. Comrade Chitmany recalled the exchanged delegations to visit each other among them, of senior leaders and academics from various sectors. He has mentioned the visit of the recent high delegation led by president Thongloun Sisoulith, who will make a state visit to Cuba and later He will participate at the G77 Summit. Regarding this issue, the Lao leader said he is confident about the capacity and experience of Cuba to organize a successful event.
