Vice President Mercedes López Acea thanks the Ghanaian people for their solidarity with Cuba

The Vice President of the Council of State of Cuba, Mercedes López Acea, presided over an Act of Solidarity with Cuba at T-Havana Parks Center, located in the city of Tema.

The Cuban Vice President, who makes an official visit to the Republic of Ghana, acknowledged the expressions of affection received since her arrival, reiterating Cuba's commitment to that brother and supportive people. She also thanked the support of the Ghanaian people in the historic battle for the lifting of the blockade.

At the event they used the word: union leaders, such as Mr. Alexander Nyarko-Opoku, first Vice President of the Ghana Trade Union Congress (TUC); political personalities such as the leader of the People's Convention Party (CPP) and presidential candidate for the December 2016 elections, Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet; retired diplomats as the first Ambassador of Ghana to Cuba, Mr. Kojo Amoo-Gotffreid; representative of the Association of Ghanaian Graduates in Cuba (ESBECAN), and the leader of the Ghanaian Socialist Forum, Mr. Kwesi Pratt.

In their interventions, the different groups that conform the Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba expressed their recognition of the work of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, and especially his contribution to the development of relations between both peoples. They also ratified the rejection of the blockade, and thanked the government and the Cuban people for their contribution to the development of Ghana, expressed in the nearly two thousand young graduates in the Cuban classrooms, and for the thousands of collaborators of the Greater Antilles, especially from the Health sector, who have provided their services to the Ghanaian people.

The event was also attended by a group of Cubans living in Ghana, and leaders of different student organizations.

After concluding the Act, the Vice President held an exchange with the press, in which she reiterated the historical nature of the ties between Cuba and Ghana and her satisfaction at being in the homeland of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, third stage of her trip through four African countries.
