The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, made an official visit to Cuba in which he developed an extensive Program of activities.
The Ghanaian Vice President was received at the Palace of the Revolution by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez. Both leaders exchanged on topics of bilateral interest during the interview. The visitor also met with the Cuban Vice President Inés María Chapman. He attended as Guest of Honor at the Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine of Havana, in which 219 new Ghanaian doctors received their certificates, and where the young Ghanaian, Ahmed Ayebeng Owusu, was awarded as the most overall best foreign student.
The Program completed in Havana included: tributes to the Cuban National Hero “José Martí” at the Square of the Revolution, and to the first President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, at the African Heroes Park; a meeting with the Heads of the African Missions accredited in Havana; a tour of Colonial Havana and the House of Africa. He also held a meeting with the new Ghanaian graduates of Medicine.
The visit of the Vice President took place within the framework of the celebration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Ghana.
