Jakarta, February 26 - Mr. Fadli Zon, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of Republic of Indonesia received the Ambassador of Cuba, cra. Nirsia Castro Guevara at the headquarters of the legislative body. In a cordial atmosphere, both parties exchanged on topics of bilateral interest.
The Cuban ambassador handed Mr. Zon a copy of the call of the National Assembly of People's Power to stop a military intervention in Venezuela that would cause a serious breach of the principles of International Law, the Charter of the United Nations and the Declaration of America. Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, approved by the heads of state of CELAC.
Likewise, Mr. Zon congratulated the Cuban people for the recent approval of the new Constitution in a popular referendum. He wished that the new Magna Carta marks the beginning of a new stage of development for the Cuban people and in the strengthening of relations between the two countries. He also showed solidarity after the damage caused by the tornado of January 27 in Havana.
For her part, the ambassador of Cuba provided updated information on the current situation of our country, the development plans, theITC program of Cuban society and the joint projects with other ASEAN member countries.
Both parties recngniced that although the level of information about Cuba in Indonesia has increased, there is still much to be done. In this regard, the vice speaker of the House of Representatives insisted on the need to send an Indonesian trade delegation to Cuba so that they can experience the country and see firsthand the conditions and opportunities for investment.
Mr. Fadli Zon remembered his visit to Cuba with pleasure in 2017 and expressed his willingness to continue working towards the increase of ties between Indonesia and Cuba.
