Deputy Head of the Commission for External Affairs of Vietnam Communist Party Central Committe, Nguyen Huy Tang, and Ambassador of Cuba to Vietnam, Lianys Torres Rivera, ratified the excellent state of both countries´ political relations during a meeting in Hanoi.
The Vietnamese official highlighted the brotherhood and historical solidarity between the two countries, and especially the ties of cooperation and the fluid exchange between Cuba and Vietnam Communist Parties.
Huy Tang stressed the Vietnam and Cuba success in facing the COVID-19 pandemic, in a context in which several nations on other continents are still suffering the new coronavirus effects.
Tang also trusted in the Cuban health system strength to completely control the disease, even facing difficulties that come from the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the US imposes on the island.
The Head of the Cuban Mission praised the performance of the Indochinese country in the fight against the pandemic, as well as its leadership as current president of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in promoting initiatives to exchange experiences on the combat against COVID-19.
Torres Rivera recalled the visit to Cuba, last January, by Head of the Mass Mobilization Commission of Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee, Truong Thi Mai, leading a delegation to the XXXIX Havana Book Fair, where Vietnam served as the Guest of Honor Country.
The diplomat assured Vietnam and Cuba will celebrate for the rest of the year 2020 the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with dissimilar initiatives in both countries.
During the meeting, the Commission for External Affairs of Vietnam Communist Party Central Committe gave a recognition to the Cuban Deputy Head of Mission, Nancy Coro Aguiar, who concludes her work in Vietnam.
