Vietnamese party leader receives Cuban Ambassador

The head of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV), Le Hoai Trung, received the new Cuban ambassador, Orlando Hernández Guillén, in Hanoi.

In the fraternal meeting, the special character of the Vietnam-Cuba relations and the central role of the party ties in the preservation and promotion of the excellent level of bilateral political relations transcended.

Hernández Guillén pointed out that, despite the pandemic and the geographical distance, both parties have organized initiatives to maintain the traditional exchange of experiences, including two videoconferences held in 2020.

In a special way, the Ambassador mentioned the telephone calls between the general secretary of the PCV, Nguyen Phu Trong, and the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Army General Raúl Castro, at the end of the XIII National Congress of the political organization Vietnamese.

Likewise, the diplomat underlined the importance of Phu Trong's telephone dialogue with Miguel Díaz-Canel, who assumed the leadership of the PCC after the VIII Congress of that institution.
The Ambassador congratulated his interlocutor for the results of the XIII Congress of the PCV and the general elections that took place in the Asian country on May 23.

Hoai Trung expressed the willingness of the PCV Foreign Relations Commission to maintain regular exchanges on dissimilar topics of interest and coordinate initiatives in order to consolidate the multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.
