16 de abril de 2024.- During his visit to Palmerston North, Cuban Ambassador Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez met with Grant Smith, Mayor of Palmerston North, where they ratified their mutual willingness to contribute to strengthening bilateral ties.
The occasion was an opportunity to visit and hold exchanges with the directors of the Manawatu Multicultural Center, the Fonterra Research and Development Center, the Riddet Institute, and Massey University.
The Manawatu Multicultural Centre encourages, supports, and connects immigrant refugees with New Zealand society, offering them programs and events that support their social reintegration, in which collaborative relationships with other community groups play an important role.
Fonterra's Research and Development Centre is one of the largest dairy research facilities in the world hosting hundreds of dairy technologists, engineers, and scientists who have played a pivotal role in shaping the global dairy industry from pioneering milk processing techniques to developing cutting-edge technologies.
The Riddet Institute is a premier national Center for Scientific and Strategic Food Research. Its focus is at the intersection of food science, food processing, gastrointestinal biology, and human nutrition.
Massey University is a well-known institution in New Zealand that has made significant contributions to the fields of agriculture and biotechnology, among others. The Faculty of Science at Massey University is highly respected for its world-class research in various areas, such as plant sciences, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, genetics, and biochemistry. Also, another aims of the faculty is achieving a balance among the social, environmental, and economic aspects of sustainable agricultural production.
In all the centers visited, we found a great interest in evaluating areas and projects of mutual interest with Cuban counterpart institutions to establish collaborative relationships.
