This project brings together exemplary farms in Cuba that have found radical solutions to sustainable food production. These "lighthouse farms" are economically viable business initiatives, pioneering cutting-edge business models and leading agricultural innovations, and will form the Cuban Network of Lighthouse Farms. The purpose of this project is to showcase best practices to both exemplary and regular farmers. The Cuban Lighthouse Farm Network will be connected to the Global Lighthouse Farm Network led by Wageningen University, thus supporting the flow of cutting-edge agricultural innovations among Cuban farmers, and between Cuban farmers and outstanding international cases captured in the global network. This will lead to learning exchanges and long-term research and practice collaboration that will showcase a range of innovative and radical solutions for sustainable food production appropriate to the Cuban context and in line with projects to achieve food sovereignty.
This exciting exchange of experiences brings professionals from both countries closer together and allows for the promotion of sustainable agriculture in Cuba.
