Jakarta, June 02- A delegation headed by the Chief of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency of Indonesia, Dr. Petrus Reinhard Golose, and integrated by several members of the aforementioned Agency, visited Cuba, as part of a tour for Latin America and the Caribbean, with the purpose of strengthening the exchange of information and experiences in the fight against drug trafficking.
The work program during the stay in Cuba included meetings with Cuban authorities in charge of the fight against drug trafficking, namely: the Ministry of Justice and the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of the Interior.
During the meetings, both parties presented their experiences and programs they have for the prevention and eradication of the illicit use and trafficking of narcotics, while agreeing that the war on drugs requires strong cooperation at the national, regional and international levels, as well as the promotion of dialogue, exchange of information, and effective joint cooperation.
Before leaving for Cuba, the Head of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency of Indonesia, Dr. Petrus, in a preparatory meeting for his visit with the Ambassador of Cuba in Jakarta, Tania Velázquez López, stated that the aforementioned institution has a program for the Prevention and Eradication of Abuse and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics and in which one of its strategies is cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. In this sense, he recognized the excellent work made by Cuba in this matter.
For her part, the Cuba Ambassador, thanked him for having taken his country into account to work together in a more advanced direction on this issue, while explaining the zero tolerance policy of the Major Antilles, in terms of drug trafficking and consumption. Likewise, he conveyed the willingness of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Jakarta to work together with the purpose of increasing bilateral cooperation in this matter, as well as in the coordination for future work visits to the island, which allows strengthening the exchange of information and experiences with Cuban specialists in the field.
