November 8: - First Secretary for Political Affairs Pablo Ginarte Sampedro participated in the Annual General Meeting of the Cymru Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Aberystwyth, Wales.
In his speech, the diplomat highlighted the deep ties of friendship and solidarity that unite the peoples of Cuba and Wales, bonds cemented by shared principles and values.
During his speech, the First Secretary addressed the harsh reality of the main obstacle to Cuba's development: the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than 63 years. He stressed that this illegal policy is most cruel in times of crisis, such as after the recent passage of Hurricane Melissa, when the blockade is deliberately tightened to hinder international aid and the country's recovery efforts.
The diplomat also condemned the unjust and unfounded inclusion of Cuba on the US list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism, a politically motivated slander that seeks to reinforce the effects of the blockade itself.
He stressed that despite these attacks, the solidarity of the Welsh people is a valuable source of support and encouragement for Cuba, and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Cymru Cuba Solidarity Campaign, as well as to the British and Welsh trade union movement, for their ongoing and tangible support for our country.
