XXI Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) was inaugurated in The Bahamas

NASSAU, May 7th, 2018. - The XXI Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) began in The Bahamas today, with the participation of a significant number of Foreign Ministers of the region.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Secretary General of CARICOM, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, as well as the Bahamian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Darren A. Henfield. They highlighted the importance of this meeting that takes place in Nassau on 7 and 8 May. Also, they referred to the need for the Caribbean unity and consolidation to achieve sustainable regional development.

At the XXI Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations, The Bahamas has officially assumed as President Pro Tempore of the regional organization, replacing Barbados.

Under the theme: Is Migration an issue of concern for CARICOM?, the meeting was opened, the attendees will discuss about the economic, political and social problems of the area, and they will also define a unique position on the most relevant issues of the international agenda.
