Accra, September 5, 2026. Yamil E. Martínez, Second Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in Ghana, spoke at the International Forum of Young Members of the Pan-African Progressive Forces (PPF), which took place on Saturday, September 5, at the University of Legon in Accra under the theme: “Africa’s freedom is in our hands.” In the year marking the centennial of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s birth, the diplomat highlighted the Cuban leader’s philosophy, which always placed trust in youth and their essential involvement in the struggle for the independence of peoples. He recalled the role Cuba has played in Africa, as well as its ever-present solidarity and internationalism. He denounced the criminal blockade imposed by U.S. imperialism against Cuba and the constant threat—including that of military aggression—aimed at destroying the example of resistance and dignity that Cuba represents for the oppressed peoples of the world.
