The Hague, September 9, 2025. This September, Ana Karla Garzón and Alejandro Méndez, fourth-year medical students, began a preparatory course at the prestigious University of Leiden.
The course, which will run for three months, will include neurosurgery practice as a method of learning and training, and will contribute to the exchange of experiences on surgical techniques, principles, theories, technologies, and experiences applied by doctors in both countries. It will also contribute to scientific development and the promotion of the respective health systems.
Ana and Alejandro express their passion for surgery, she for orthopedics specializing in the spine, and he for neurosurgery. They study in the Cuban capital, and their vocation as future doctors is to serve the health of their nation.
