Yesterday morning, Ambassador Carmelina held a meeting with the ZANU-PF Foreign Secretary, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, at the headquarters of the ruling Party in Zimbabwe. During the meeting the strong ties of friendship that exist between the people of Zimbabwe and Cuba were mentioned, and the gratitude of this country for the support provided by Cuba during the independence struggle. The next African Solidarity Meeting with Cuba was also discussed, which will be held in Nigeria. The ambassador took advantage of the moment to invite Simbarashe to the anti-imperialist event to be held in Havana in November of this year, to which the former Chancellor responded that he will try by all means that Zimbabwe is present at the event. Simbarashe also spoke about how unfair and criminal the sanctions imposed by the United States are to both countries, and thanked Cuba for the great help provided since independence with the granting of scholarships and the sending of Health and Education collaborators.
