Harare, October 15, 2025 – Zimbabwe's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Honorable Dr. Amon Murwira, today reaffirmed the African country's categorical support for the fight against the United States blockade of Cuba.
Upon receiving Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa, Murwira reiterated Harare's position against the economic, financial, and commercial blockade on the eve of the United Nations General Assembly vote on the draft resolution calling for the lifting of the blockade.
The Cuban Ambassador updated the Foreign Minister on the consequences of Washington's hostile policy and the island's rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Zimbabwe.
During the friendly meeting, Murwira and Pérez Mesa discussed current bilateral projects, the progress of talks for the signing of agreements in various areas, and the legal frameworks for their implementation.
The Minister, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Albert Chimbindi, recalled the historic and deep diplomatic and political relations between the two countries, dating back to, he said, the struggle for the liberation of the African state.
He also praised the government of Zimbabwe for its unwavering solidarity and support, including donations to the African Liberation Museum, which further highlight its historic role in Africa's independence.
Murwira highlighted the progress in cooperation in areas such as health, education, science, and technology.
The Ambassador also congratulated Zimbabwe on its upcoming leadership of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), as well as the successes of its term at the helm of the Southern African Community (SADC).
