Zimbabwean Deputy Ministers of Information to Patria Colloquium in Cuba

Harare, March 14, 2025 – Zimbabwe demonstrates the importance of communication with the participation of two deputy ministers in the ministerial forum and the fourth edition of the Patria International Colloquium, scheduled for March 17-19 in Cuba.

The Deputy Ministers of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Omphile Marupi, and of Information Technology, Communications, and Postal Services, Dingumuzi Phuti, are leading the African country's delegation to the important events planned in Havana.

Marupi and Phuti will have a busy agenda and plan to exchange views with the President of the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication, Alfonso Noya, during the ministerial session parallel to the Colloquium.

The delegation, which also includes other senior officials and managers, including Permanent Secretary Ndavaningi Mangwana and Director of International Communications Richard Mahomva, plans to address the various modalities of Patria.

The fourth edition of the International Colloquium, in the context of the 133rd anniversary of the newspaper founded by José Martí, seeks to explore how power dynamics are transformed in an interconnected world.

Attendees will discuss, in conferences, panels, and workshops, the unprecedented possibilities for interaction and social exchange amid a rise in misinformation, hate speech, and various forms of manipulation.

Patria will explore digital content and platforms as tools for social mobilization, political participation, and the configuration of power.

According to the organizers, some 400 guests from 47 countries will attend the forum in the Cuban capital.
