
Havana, November 12, 2025 - The Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture of Zimbabwe, the Honorable Lieutenant General (Retired) Anselem N. Sanyatwe, highlighted Cuba's sporting excellence while attending the 11th International Convention on Physical Activity and Sports, AFIDE 2025.
"We are here at this edition of AFIDE 2025 driven by the will of two nations to work together," Sanyatwe stated upon his arrival in the capital.
The Minister acknowledged Zimbabwe's interest in participating in this forum, especially, he said, "since we have much to learn from Cuba given your sporting excellence."
Before traveling to Havana, the Minister emphasized to Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa the historical ties between the two nations and their potential in various areas.
Sanyatwe visited the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists and met with Ana María Pellón, Director of Cultural Industries and Cooperation, and other officials.
In conjunction with AFIDE 2025, the Minister will participate in a bilateral program that includes meetings with his counterpart from the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, as well as with the Minister of Culture.
