Harare, October 7, 2025 – The Chairman of the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee and the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Group, Webster Kotiwani Shamu, today reiterated his support for the island's struggle against the US-imposed blockade.
In a cordial meeting with Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa, Shamu reaffirmed the African nation's position calling for an end to more than 60 years of the hostile policy of attempting to suffocate the Cuban people with the economic, commercial, and financial siege.
During the dialogue, the legislative leader and the Head of Mission discussed various initiatives in Parliament and in the area of communication to support the battle to lift the blockade.
The Ambassador highlighted the displays of solidarity and support during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, including the mutual support expressed by Foreign Ministers Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Amon Murwira against the blockade and unilateral coercive measures.
Pérez Mesa and Shamu emphasized the mutual willingness to plan actions to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly between the two legislative bodies.
In the presence of Minister Counselor Luis Enrique González Acosta and Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac Moráguez, both parties discussed existing agreements between the two countries and the prospects for cooperation in new areas.
