Harare, February 19, 2025 – The Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF), Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, reiterated today to the Ambassador of Cuba, Her Excellency Susellys Perez Mesa, the nation's long-standing support for the Caribbean island.
Upon receiving the Head of Mission at ZANU-PF headquarters, Mumbengegwi highlighted the historic bilateral ties and Harare's firm stance against the more than six-decade-long US blockade.
The Ambassador briefed the high-ranking official on the intensification of Washington's blockade with the executive order of January 29 and the disastrous consequences this entails, not only for Cuba but also for the international community.
Pérez Mesa asserted that the new action has a genocidal character, as it attempts to impede fuel supplies, and that it forms part of the aggressive economic, commercial, and financial warfare policy of the U.S. administration.
At the same time, she highlighted the resilience of the Cuban people and their determination never to surrender, as well as the support the island has received from nations, parties, and organizations across all continents.
Representatives from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, ZANU-PF, and the Minister-Counselor of the Caribbean nation, Luis Enrique González Acosta, participated in the exchange.
