Stockholm, March 16, 2024 - On the occasion of the Annual Assembly of the National Board of the Swedish-Cuban Association, Zoltan Tiroler received the Medal of Friendship awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, at the proposal of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
In the message sent by the President of ICAP, Fernando González LLort and which was read by the Cuban Ambassador at the emotional moment, it is recognized that “with a strong political conscience, Zoltan has dedicated several decades of his life to the defense of the Cuban cause, imbuing each of its members with its dynamism, creativity and drive. His outstanding leadership has made the Cuba Solidarity Movement in Sweden an example of maturity, mobilization capacity and commitment, not only to the Cuban Revolution, but to all just causes.”
Likewise, the President of ICAP highlighted his confidence that this strength and dedication will be faithfully maintained by the new generations who will continue his work.
Zoltan joined the Swedish-Cuban Association in the early 80's. He has been part of its national board since the early 90s, and was part of the small nucleus that founded the Jönköping branch, which today has 150 members. He served as President of the Association in the period 2017-2023.
In his words of gratitude, Zoltan pointed out in a gesture of modesty that this Medal is also a little bit of all those who have dedicated their work and effort to supporting Cuba.
