The Cyprus-Cuban Friendship Association expresses its full support and solidarity with the struggling people of Cuba, where for 6 decades it has been experiencing the criminal imposition of economic, commercial and financial blockade implemented by the United States. Through the barbaric and inhumane blockade, the United States seeks to impoverish the Cuban people and overthrow the Cuban Revolution. As in other cases, the US unilateral sanctions and exclusion decisions are intended to create resentment and upset among the victimized population.

The inclusion in the agenda of the current plenary of the European Parliament and the discussion surrounding "Human rights and the political situation in Cuba" is a continuation of the attempts by a group of MEP’s to put an end to the development of EU-Cuba relations on the basis of equality and mutual respect, far from any interferences and interventions in the internal affairs of Cuba.
