The virtual meeting "Cuba will win" brought together leaders of political parties, representatives of international organizations, academics, social communicators, graduates of Cuban universities and the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Timor Leste. The Cambodian delegation was integrated by H.E. Mr. Kem Sambath, Vice President of External Relations Commission of the CPP Central Committee.
The Ambassador of Cuba in Phnom Penh, Liurka Rodríguez Barrios, held a brief exchange with the Vice Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, Prak Sokhonn. The Caribbean diplomat took the opportunity to thank the leader for his support for the noble causes defended by the Greater Antilles, whose outgoing vocation has also reached the Asian kingdom. Sokhonn, also head of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Cambodian People's Party ratified the position of accompanying the Island, side by side, while pondering the historical ties that unite both nations, despite the geographical distance.
The Cuban ambassador to Cambodia, Liurka Rodríguez Barrios, was received by Min Chandyneth, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Worship and Religion of Cambodia, along with other senior executives in the field. During the cordial meeting, the diplomat demonstrated, with strong arguments, that the Cuban State recognizes, guarantees and respects religious freedom. Likewise, he lashed out at attempts to defame the politics of the Caribbean island, in campaigns orchestrated by the United States government, whose economic, financial and commercial blockade also affects Cuban religious institutions and their members.
In these days when solidarity with Cuba is multiplying in many corners of the planet, expressions of sympathy and admiration for the Cuban Revolution continue in Cambodia. Members of the Association of Graduates in Cuba evoked Fidel's legacy, on the eve of commemorating the 95th anniversary of his birth, on August 13.
