HAVANA DECLARATION ON “CURRENT DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGES: THE ROLE OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION”

Distinguished delegates and guests,
The warmest of welcomes to Cuba, the land of José Martí, to whom we owe the beautiful idea that Homeland is Mankind.
Thank you for accepting an invitation that brings us together today to defend the future of the vast majorities that form the bulk of that great and unifying concept: mankind.
Cuba reiterates its firm historical position against mercenarism and upholds its active role at the United Nations against that practice. Cuban laws are very explicit in relation to the criminalization of crimes such as trafficking in persons, smuggling of migrants and mercenarism.
The President of Cuba and the Group of 77 plus China (G77), Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, officially welcomed the President of Mongolia, His Excellency Mr. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and his delegation at the Revolution Palace the day of his arrival to the island.
After reviewing the honor guard and listening to the national anthems of both countries, the two Presidents presented their respective delegations and later met.
The President of Mongolia, His Excellency Mr. Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and his high-level delegation will arrive in Havana this afternoon, Thursday, September 14, to participate, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Cuba and the Group of 77 plus China (G77), Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the Extraordinary Summit on Science, Technology and Innovation that will take place in Cuba on September 15 and 16.
