Director General of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Vu Viet Trang on October 30 had a working session in Hanoi with President of Cuban news agency Prensa Latina (PL) Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta.
Welcoming the PL leader, Trang briefed the guest on the situation of the VNA and its development orientations towards a multimedia news agency playing the key role in the Vietnam’s press system.
Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz left Ho Chi Minh City on October 2 afternoon, concluding his official visit to Vietnam since September 28.
During his stay in Vietnam, the leader held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, paid a courtesy call to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and separately met President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz leading a high-level Government delegation of Cuba arrived in Hanoi late September 28, beginning an official friendship visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh.
This is PM Cruz’s first visit to a country outside Latin America since he took office in December 2019, and also the first to Vietnam by a high-ranking leader of Cuba since 2018.
Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, has suggested the Cuban Party and State to further push for cooperation and delegation exchange with the Vietnamese city in areas of mutual interest, including youth exchange, healthcare, biology and education. He made the statement while hosting a reception for Gerardo Peñalver Portal, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba on August 31.
Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Peñalver Portal has highlighted the comprehensive and close-knit cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba through different channels, including between the two countries’ Parties, States, Governments, and foreign ministries.
