New Ambassador of New Zealand in Cuba presented credentials.

Havana, July 6. Her Excellency Sara Meymand presented to President Miguel Díaz-Canel the Letters of Credence that accredit her as the new ambassador of New Zealand to Cuba.

Meymand, who is based in Mexico, held important meetings during her visit to the island.

Undoubtedly, her preparation and energy will contribute to the strengthening of our relations.

 

Cuban Ambassador attends a celebration for the Maori New Year.

Wellington, June 24. At the invitation of the Right Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand, and Dr. Richard Davis, Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and his wife Dalila Vázquez attended a dinner at Government House to celebrate Matariki, the Maori New Year, which for the first time is an official holiday.

During the event, they talked extensively about Cuba and its health system, about which Dr. Davies has extensive knowledge.

The Ambassador expressed that the Governor-General and her husband will be very welcome in Cuba, a country that they both wish to visit.

The Mayor of Rotorua visits our Embassy.

Wellington, June 15. The mayor of the tourist city of Rotorua was received by Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez, who thanked her for her friendship and systematic support for the Cuban Festival that is held every year in that city.

H.W Steve Chadwick, who has also been Minister of Conservation and Women's Affairs, as well as Associate Minister of Health, took an interest in the Cuban health system, particularly primary care.

Friends of Cuba visit our Embassy.

Wellington, June 12. Members of solidarity groups with Cuba visited the Embassy this Sunday to share ideas and coordinate future actions, including the celebration of July 26.

Together with union activists and others who have been involved in solidarity for years, we enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.

The Ambassador updated them on the situation in Cuba and we exchanged on the international situation.
