Cuban Ambassador exchanges with members of the NZIIA.

Wellington, November 2. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés received members of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA) to exchange about Cuba, its foreign policy, and business and investment opportunities on the island.

The President of NZIIA Wellington, Karim Dickie, gave the opening remarks, after which the Ambassador made a brief presentation and answered questions on the most diverse topics.

The exchange lasted more than 2 hours and contributed to a better understanding of cuban reality.

 

Cuban Ambassador talks with new Governor-General.

Wellington, October 29. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés attended the reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps by the new Governor-General, H.E Dame Cindy Kiro, at the Government House.

On the occasion, he held exchanges with the Governor-General and her husband, Dr. Richard Davies, who are aware of the progress of the Cuban health system and expressed interest in getting to know our country.

In her opening speech, H.E. Dame Cindy Kiro recognized the work of diplomats in these complex times and highlighted the need for greater cooperation in the face of difficulties.

Celebration of the Day of Cuban Culture.

Wellington, October 19. To celebrate the Day of Cuban Culture, a group of Ambassadors, and prominent academics linked to foreign policy and in particular to Latin America and the Caribbean attended the Embassy.

Among them, Mathew O´Meagher, Director of the Latin American chapter of the Asia-Pacific Center for Excellence (Latam-CAPE), Karim Dickie, Executive Director of the Caribbean Council, and Professor Roberto Rabel, national vice president of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs (NZIIA).

Temporary closure of the Cuban Embassy.

Wellington, October 20. The Cuban Embassy will remain closed from December 15, 2021, until March 2022. Those interested in consular services should start their procedures as soon as possible.

Citizens who wish to travel to Cuba as tourists during the closure of the Embassy can purchase tourist cards at Viva Expeditions travel agency.

Members of the Diplomatic Corps support the vaccination campaign.

Wellington, October 16. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés joined other members of the Diplomatic Corps, in the company of H.W Andy Foster, Mayor of Wellington, and New Zealand Health Director Dr. Ashley Bloomfield support the # Covid19 vaccination campaign.

This Saturday more than 120 thousand people were vaccinated, as part of an effort to boost immunization.
