Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community accepts the Letter of Credence of the new Plenipotentiary Representative of Cuba.
Georgetown, May 31, 2016. The Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, accepted on Tuesday, the credentials of Ambassador Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro as Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Cuba to CARICOM.
Secretary General LaRocque recalled that four CARICOM countries, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, decided to establish diplomatic relations with Cuba on December 8, 1972, which helped to end the diplomatic isolation of the country, and reiterated the Community's support against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean archipelago.
