New Victory of Cuba in the United Nations against US blockade

CUBA, November 1st, 2017.- The Cuban resolution ¨Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba¨ was widely supported in the United Nations this Wednesday, obtaining  191 votes in favor, 2 against (USA and Israel) and 0 abstentions.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that the blockade is the greatest obstacle to Cuba's economic and social development, and to the implementation of its National Plan, in line with the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development goals

As part of the continuous, irreversible process of updating the country’s migratory policies, the Cuban government has approved the following measures, which will take effect January 1, 2018:

• Eliminate the “Habilitación” (authorization) of passports previously required of Cuban émigrés traveling to the country

This past February 17, the State Department and the U.S. embassy in Havana, reported, for the first time, to Cuba’s Foreign Ministry and diplomatic mission in Washington, the alleged occurrence of sonic attacks between November of 2016 and February, 2017.

According to statements by U.S. authorities, these incidents were produced by long-range sonic devices, which affected the health of diplomatic personnel and their family members.

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, November 2nd, 2017. A large trade delegation from Jamaica participates at the International Fair of Havana FIHAV 2017, held a Expocuba fairgrounds in the outskirts of Havana.

Jamaica´s delegation is led by Marlene Porter, head of the Market Developing division at JAMPRO, institution that promotes the commercial relations of Jamaica, at the Ministry of Economic Development and Job Creation.
