Press Release: “Cuba urges bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space”.

New York, 13 October 2016. At the General Debate on Agenda item “International cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space”, Ambassador Humberto Rivero Rosario at the Fourth Committee, reaffirmed today Cuba’s position regarding the militarization of the outer space as one of the major threats to the future of human species and he called upon the international community to prevent outer space from becoming the next target of the arms race.

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has lauded the Cuban Government for its firm stand on health related issues and expressed the readiness of Nasarawa State to partner Cuba in the areas of healthcare and agriculture.

Governor Almakura made this known when he received the Cuban Ambassador Carlos Trejo-Sosa who was in the state for a courtesy visit and discussions on various issues at the Government House Lafia.

Speaking on the healthcare collaboration the Governor stated it would have a more positive approach if a research and diagnostic laboratory is set up in Nasarawa State , saying that such an effort would go a long way in stemming the tide of Lasa fever among other diseases.

Daily Observer publishes article about effects of the blockade in the agriculture

Banjul, October 10, 2016.- Gambian newspaper Daily Observer published an extensive article in his Commentary section entitled "US embargo leaves Cuban farmers waiting for modernity", which assures that “nowhere in Cuba are the effect of the continuing US economic embargo more apparent than in the countryside, where farming cooperatives relay on outdated tools and processing plants can´t obtain spare parts”.

Gambia, October 5, 2016. - In a full page article titled "United States blockade against Cuba after the establishment of diplomatic relations in December 2014", Gambian newspaper The Standard published a summary on the main economic, financial and commercial measures against the island in this period.

The summary includes repercussions of blockade policy on Cuban and third party entities to the detriment of the normal functioning of important sectors of the island and the human rights of the Cuban people, even after President Barak Obama´s visit to the Caribbean island.
