Pan-Africanist artists represent Barbados at the Caribbean Festival in Santiago de Cuba

The Lion Soul´s musical group, comprised of Pan-Africanist artists led by the Baptist reverends Onkphra Wells and John Howell, represented Barbados in the 2018 edition of the famous Caribbean Festival, which is dedicated annually to a Caribbean guest nation and is celebrated in the city of Santiago de Cuba, where representatives of several islands show the diversity of their arts and culture; several performances in public squares, the Friendship House and the Caribbean House proved the quality of the group during a whole week that lasted the also called Fire Festival.

Exchange with Barbadian hikers to Cuba

On the initiative of its coordinator, Professor Nicolas Vaughan, the Cuban Embassy hosted an interesting exchange of information to motivate a group of Barbadian hikers who will visit several Cuban provinces for the first time in August; to this end, both the Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández, and the Saintlucian solidarity leader Rawle Harvey, made presentations on the most relevant aspects of the history, culture, tourist opportunities on the island and the characteristics of the Cuban population.
