Solidarity from Belizean journalism

This morning at the Belize-Solidarity encounter, the Belize-Cuba Solidarity Group in collaboration with the Embassy of Cuba in Belize made a special acknowledgement to Clinton Uh Luna.

For many years Mr Luna has been a unique force for public good by providing articles, excerpts and important information about the history and contemporary life of Cuba. The Amandala newspaper which celebrates 50 years of service to Belize this year has created the space for Mr Luna to express his ideas.

I tell my students that we Belizeans should be in Solidarity with Cuba for many reasons. Sure, Cuba was by our side in our struggle for Independence. Yes, Cuba has been there for three decades with unprecedented support and cooperation.

October the 20th, 1868, was the first time Cubans sang our National Anthem at the beginning of our battles for independence, 151 years ago.
