Cuban Doctors, Embedded in Belizean Hearts and Culture
Cuban Doctors and nurses have become a permanent part of the Belizean medical landscape - and right that they should because they have been here for 28 years.
That's right, Cuba has been sending medical personnel to Belize since 1990. and, right now, there are 87 Cubans serving in the Belizean health sector.
And, this week in Havana, Cuba Health Minister Pablo Marin honored them at an event held at a celebrated art gallery and community center.

Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte headed to Guyana today where he is scheduled to participate in a top-level diplomatic conference between CARICOM foreign ministers and Cuban Minister of Foreign Relations, Bruno Rodriguez Parilla. The Sixth Annual CARICOM-Cuba Ministerial Meeting is being held in Georgetown on June fourteenth.

Belize Attends 6th Annual CARICOM-Cuba Ministerial Meeting

NICH and Marti Institute in Cuba to Partner on Research
Belize and Cuba want to find out more about their historical connections. And to do this, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding today that will see intensive research, cross cultural exchange and other collaborations of similar interests through workshops and projects over a four-year period. NICH and the Cuban Embassy in Belize held a short ceremony to establish the institutional cooperation agreement. Andrea Polanco was at today’s signing and tells us more in the following story.

Pedro is ultimately a star, a star of hope not for only Cuba but for the region and the world
The breeze was scarce as the students anxiously waited for Pedro Pablo Rodriguez to enter the art center. A different aura filled the building, and filled the beings that were seated and standing to hear his presentation. Despite the heat and congested room, the students knew that something big was about to happen. Upon his anticipated arrival, Pedro Pablo caused an outburst of applauses from an expecting congregation of students that were hungry for new ideas and philosophies.
