They ask the U.S. Government to put an end to the use of unilateral sanctions.

Dozens of legal organizations and more than 200 lawyers and academics from around the world today urged the U.S. government to end unilateral economic sanctions, which constitute collective punishment of civilians.

"The United States imposes more unilateral economic sanctions than any other country in the world," the collective expressed in a letter sent Monday to President Joe Biden in which they mention the cases of Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Cuba reaffirms its commitment to the elimination of nuclear weapons.

Cuba will continue to advocate for the total, transparent, irreversible and verifiable elimination of nuclear weapons, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said today.

This was stated by the foreign minister on the social network X, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city of Nagasaki, which he described as a huge crime committed by U.S. imperialism.

The atomic bombs dropped on August 6 and 9, 1945 on the civilian populations of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki made Japan the only nation to have suffered attacks of this magnitude.

Tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution at the Fidel Castro Center.

The Fidel Castro Ruz Center begins today a program of special activities designed to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.

The day, included in the project Along Fidel's Route, will begin with music, juggling, laughter and joy radiated by the children's troupe Kalboroto in each of its presentations.

There will also be several spaces for the enjoyment of traditional games, guided by students and professors of the Universidad del Deporte.

Cuban Baseball team to attend world event.

Cuban Foreign Minister warns about the dangers of nuclear weapons.

Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, warned today that nuclear weapons continue to be a serious threat to humanity, recalling the dropping of the atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima 79 years ago.

In the social network X, the Minister of Foreign Affairs warned that the use of these weapons would cause severe and irreversible damage.

On August 6, 1945, the Japanese city of Hiroshima was hit by a uranium bomb that killed some 140,000 people.

Mijaín López is already a legend, says Cuba's president.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said today that four-time Olympic champion Mijaín López is already a legend and living history, on the occasion of his two victories in Greco-Roman wrestling at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

"Mijaín's fifth goes and the whole of Cuba is accompanying him," said the president in his account in X, platform from which he sent the athlete the embrace of the people.

Lopez advanced this Monday to the semifinals, in the division of more than 130 kilograms, beating Iran's Amin Mirzazadeh 3-1.

Caricom reiterates call for the U.S. to lift blockade against Cuba.

The forty-seventh Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) today reiterated its call for the lifting of the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

At the close of the regional organization's meeting, the participants expressed their deep concern over the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Cuba as a result of the blockade unjustly imposed on Cuba for the past 62 years by the Government of the United States of America.

It negatively affects the realization and enjoyment of fundamental human rights, including the rights to food, health, education, economic and social rights, the right to life and right to development.
