The farce of the debate on Cuba in the European Parliament

Brussels, 7 June 2021.  The European Parliament has scheduled for Tuesday 8 June an artificial debate on what it is pleased to call “the political and human rights situation in Cuba” If this body indeed decides to discuss Cuba, the debate should clearly center on the massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of the entire Cuban population resulting from the genocidal, immoral and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by Washington against our country for over 60 years.

Cuba rejects US slanders about counterterrorism cooperation

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba rejects, in the strongest possible terms, the US State Department’s certification of Cuba as country that is not cooperating fully with the United States counterterrorism efforts, published by the Federal Register of that country on May 25, 2021.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem and the indiscriminate bombings against the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip by Israel’s military forces, which have caused more than one hundred deadly casualties, the destruction of infrastructure and heavy economic damage.

Cuban Foreign Ministry: State Department Human Rights Report is Arbitrary and Unilateral

Cuba's Foreign Ministry reiterated on Monday its rejection of false allegations on the island included on the recently issued U.S. State Department's 2020 Human Rights report.

A press release on the Ministry's website states that the Director-General in charge of the United States at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, convened the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, Timothy Zúñiga-Brown, to whom he conveyed his rejection of the misleading and politicized allegations made about Cuba in the report.
