Ambassador speaks on business opportunities in Cuba.

Wellington, July 19. Ambassador Edgardo Valdés gave a presentation on Business Opportunities and Investments in Cuba, at an event at the Business School of the University of Victoria.

Sponsored by the Latin American chapter of the Asia Pacific Center for Excellence (LatamCAPE), the meeting was attended by a large group of young people, members of the Young Enterprise Trust.

The Ambassador highlighted the limited knowledge about opportunities in Cuba and Latin America in general and detailed the many advantages that the island offers.

Designated New Zealand Ambassador to Cuba visits us.

Wellington, July 15. The designated Ambassador of New Zealand to Cuba, with residence in Mexico, Sara Meymand, visited our Embassy to exchange about our bilateral relationship and say goodbye to her Cuban counterpart, with whom she has had several meetings.

Meymand is a young diplomat with a successful career at the Foreign Ministry and experience in the economic-commercial area.

Ambassador Edgardo Valdés updated her on the situation in Cuba and they talked about those areas in which we can expand our bilateral relationship, for which he offered his support.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez holds the United States responsible for the incidents in Cuba.

Havana, July 13. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, said at a press conference that the US government identified # COVID19 as an opportunity to reinforce the blockade and its aggression against our country.

Referring to the riots that occurred last Sunday, he affirmed that it has been a deliberate, cruel, and opportunistic attempt to take advantage of the conditions of a pandemic to try to strangle our economy.

Meeting of Latin American Ambassadors with the Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Wellington, July 6. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Trevor Mallard, offered a dinner to the accredited Latin American Ambassadors, in the company of the members of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship with our region.

In a friendly atmosphere, we had the opportunity to exchange with the co-chairs, Ricardo Menéndez and Angela Roberts, as well as with other members of the group, about the situation in our countries and our interest in strengthening ties with New Zealand.
