Cuban residents commemorate the birth of José Martí at the Cuban Embassy.

Wellington, January 24. As is now a tradition, the Cubans residing in Wellington gathered at the Cuban Embassy to commemorate the birth of José Martí.

The Consul, Dalila Vazquez, remembered Martí as a figure that unites Cubans.

Throughout Sunday afternoon, the small Cuban community in the city, their families, and the Embassy staff shared a traditional Cuban meal and music, in an atmosphere of friendship and also longing for our homeland.

 

Cuban Foreign Minister recognizes support against the blockade.

Havana, January 6.  Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla recognized the support of the international community in favor of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government against the Caribbean island.

He stated that during 2020, 159 States and 34 international organizations sent messages of support to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, for resolution 74/7 entitled “The necessity to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba”.

Celebrating a new Anniversary of the Revolution.

Wellington, December 28. To celebrate the anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, the team from the Cuban Embassy in New Zealand climbed Mount KauKau, in Wellington.

In 2019, we climbed Mount Victoria, in the same city. In 2021 the plan is the Pico Turquino in Santiago de Cuba.

Cuban diplomats culminated meetings in the South Island.

Queenstown, December 23. Cuban Ambassador Edgardo Valdés and Consul Dalila Vázquez ended today a series of work meetings in the South Island.

Since their arrival on December 17, they had meetings with businessmen, congressmen, local authorities, academics, journalists, members of solidarity groups, and Cuban residents.

It was the first visit to several cities in this territory and an opportunity to establish new links and expose the reality of Cuba, as well as initiate exchange plans for 2021.

Cuban Ambassador meets the Governor General.

Wellington, December 16. The Cuban Ambassador, Edgardo Valdés, held a meeting with the Governor-General of New Zealand, the Right Honorable Dame Patsy Reddy, during a reception offered to the Diplomatic Corps at the official residence.

The Governor thanked the missions for their support during this difficult year and expressed her good wishes for our countries.

In his exchange with the Cuban Ambassador and his wife, she became interested in the situation in Cuba, a country she visited a few years ago.
