The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns the escalation of pressures and actions of the US government in preparation for a military adventure under the guise of a humanitarian intervention in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and calls on the international community to mobilize in order to prevent its consummation.
Cuban residents in Nigeria remember the birth of José Martí
NIGERIA, January 28, 2019. Cuban residents in Nigeria with the members of the Diplomatic Mission in Abuja recalled Marti's ideology on the 166th anniversary of the Apostle's birth.
The notes of the National Anthem began the activity that was followed by the words of Ambassador Carlos Trejo Sosa, who recalled the essence of Marti's thought and the validity it has in our days, despite the years passed. He made reference to the preparations for the constitutional reform and of which Cubans residing in other countries were participants through their opinions.

On January 16, 2019, the United States State Department announced the decision to suspend for only 45 days the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, “to conduct a careful review… in light of the national interests of the United States and efforts to expedite a transition to democracy in Cuba and include factors such as the Cuban regime’s brutal oppression of human rights and fundamental freedoms and its indefensible support for increasingly authoritarian and corrupt regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua.”
