In the Acropolis Museum Amphitheater in the capital of the Hellenic Republic, it was officially opened last night the XIV edition of the LEA Festival of Literature in Athens.
The Festival, which is sponsored by the President of the Republic, Her Excellency Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, will take place between June 14 and 24 in Athens and, on this occasion, activities are also scheduled in the cities of Lefkada, Chalcis and Nauplion.
This inaugural session was attended by the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic Hon. Mr. Vassili Papadopoulos, who conveyed a greeting to the participants of the event. Various personalities from Latin American and Greek culture were also present, as well as ambassadors, other members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Athens and a select public admirer of Ibero-American culture. Several speakers highlighted the importance of this initiative, which has been taking place in Athens since 2008.
As is traditional, the Festival is attended by writers and poets from the Ibero-American world (Latin America, Spain and Portugal) and also from Greece. The program contain a wide variety of activities that include master conferences, book presentations, talks, workshops, musical and theatrical performances and other cultural actions that guarantee an attractive and rich exhibition of Ibero-American and Greek culture.
From Cuba, the National Prize of Literature Leonardo Padura participates as a guest.
