Dear Cuban sisters and brothers,
Moved and concerned by the severe damage caused by the passage of Hurricane Ian through western Cuba, the loss of human lives, the destruction of crops, especially tobacco, damage to housing, infrastructure and the temporary interruption of electricity service throughout the country, we wish to express to the Cuban people and government our deep regret for the deaths and economic losses mainly in the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Havana and the Special Municipality of Isla de la Juventud.
At times like this we declare our solidarity with the Cuban people, we support the efforts for their speedy recovery, we thank the support and solidarity of numerous peoples, governments and institutions around the world, we reiterate our condemnation of the policy of aggression of the government of the United States, and we demand the immediate and unconditional cessation of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade that aggravates and makes more painful the difficulties faced by our country.
Long live Cuba!
