Cuban Ambassador exchanges with Norwegian People's Aid

Oslo, October 21, 2022. Ambassador of Cuba to Norway, Maité Rivero Torres, visited the main office of Norwegian Popular Aid (NPA) , where she was received by Gry Ballestad, director of Development and Humanitarian Cooperation, and Beate Thoresen, head of Section for Latin America.

In a cordial exchange, the Ambassador received a detailed explanation about NPA, in particular regarding its origins, mission, organizational structure, action inside the country and international work.

Of great interest was the information on NPA's relationship with Cuba, which dates back to 1994 and includes cooperation projects involving several Cuban institutions and entities operating in sectors like agriculture, food security, community development, education, culture, among others. The Ambassador made a positive assessment of APN's cooperation with Cuba and the Norwegian officials expressed their will to work for its continuity and good progress.

Norwegian People’s Aid is a politically independent membership-based organisation working in Norway and in more than 30 countries around the world. It was founded in 1939 as the labour movement's humanitarian solidarity organisation. NPA's international work covers two core areas: Mine Action and Disarmament, and Development and Humanitarian relief aid.
