Oslo, October 26, 2022. In an emotional political-cultural event, a memorial tribute was paid in this city to Ernesto Che Guevara, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of his fall in combat.
Members of the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association, the Bolivarian circles, the Norwegian Communist Party and trade union organizations; diplomats from the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; Cuban residents in Norway, and friends in general, joined the staff of the Embassy and a delegation from the Cuban Union of Communications, Information Technology and Electronics Workers, for the commemoration.
In her introductory speech, the acting president of the Friendship Association, Berit Moen, highlighted relevant aspects of Ernesto Guevara's biography, including those of his relationship with the Cuban revolutionary process.
The Cuban ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, for her part, referred to the greatness of the figure of the Heroic Guerrilla Fighter and his transcendence in the history of the Cuban Revolution. Likewise, she highlighted how his example currently inspires and guides the Cuban people in facing the difficulties derived from the global crisis, the strengthening of the blockade imposed by the United States and the regrettable accidents and natural phenomena that have hit the country in the last period.
“Be certain that Cuba will break through and overcome thanks to the legacy of heroes like Che, thanks to the power of resistance of its people, thanks to the consecration and intelligence of its leaders, and thanks to the friendship and solidarity of friends like you”, said the diplomat addressing those present.
Cubans residing in this country Bárbaro Maikel Mendoza and Yossiel Coronado contributed with their art to the tribute to Che. The first danced to the beat of the beautiful song by Gerardo Alfonso "Son los sueños todavía" and the second delighted everyone with his interpretation of the emblematic "Hasta siempre, Comandante", by Carlos Puebla, also commemorating the Cuban Culture Day.
