Cuba-Jamaica Friendship Association ratifies solidarity with Cuba.

Kinsgton, 4 December 2022. Different organisations that make up the movement of solidarity with Cuba in Jamaica gathered on Sunday morning, December 4, to celebrate their annual meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, and officials of the diplomatic headquarters, as well as representatives of the Cuban community in Jamaica.

Professor Osvaldo Cardenas, President of the Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica, thanked the Jamaican people and government for their expressions of solidarity, especially in this year in which we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cuba-Jamaica and Cuba-CARICOM relations.

Also present were representatives of the Patriots and the PNPYO, youth organisations linked to the People's National Party of Jamaica (PNP) who denounced the impact of the blockade on Cuba's development and the importance of regional integration, as well as the need to continue strengthening relations between the two nations.

In his closing remarks, the Cuban Ambassador thanked the Jamaican people for their permanent expressions of solidarity towards Cuba and their support for the struggle against the blockade of the US government, as well as the importance of the new generations knowing and deepening the historical links between Cuba and Jamaica.

At the end, a Declaration was unanimously approved urging the US government to join the majority of the "peoples of humanity" and withdraw from the path of aggression manifested in the blockade and the maintenance of the military base in Guantanamo.
